Distractions, distractions, distractions. Ranging from reading through artist/commission dramaz, to the Who Framed Roger Rabbit DVDs that arrived today, to the copy of Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll which also arrived today, to reading through and ultimately NOT accepting Sony's PSN user agreement v8 (hope I didn't still have $19 sitting in my PSN Wallet like I remember)... I've been sufficiently distracted all night. For once, it wasn't EverQuest. All that aside, though...

Today's song is the "Aquatic Ruin Zone" theme, from Sonic 2.

Nope, I'm not talking about Sonic Adventure 2, or some crazy new PS3/360 release. I'm talking Sonic 2, from the Sega Genesis era. Yeah.

So I started listening to Sonic remixes from Overclocked Remix over the weekend... which led me to listen to the original chiptunes again. This song stuck with me all day at work. Strangely enough, this was one of my less favorite zones from Sonic 2... it was certainly doable, but being underwater for a good portion of all three zones is very limiting and annoying. Still, it ain't a classic Sonic game unless you go underwater at some point, so it was bearable.

Have any thoughts about Sonic 2? Likes, dislikes? Favorite or least favorite zones? Personally, I can't stand Hill Top Zone... ugh!

I've only heard this track more recently, thanks to my little Earthsiege & Starsiege Christmas spree a couple months ago. I ripped a copy of this song myself from my game CD, but the entire soundtrack sounds like a low-budget reprint of the original -- lots of hissing and some distortion; it almost sounds like a vinyl copy. /boggle

Once the music was on my harddrive, I was easily able to get rid of the hiss, no problem. But the random distortions, pops and whatnot proved to be more problematic... ultimately, this guy's copy of the song is much better anyway. ;)
